About the Tanunda Cricket Club

The Tanunda Cricket Club, nicknamed the Magpies, Maggies or Pies, is a family orientated club situated in the heart of Tanunda; refer to Contact Us for road map. The traditional club colours, which also correspond to the nearby football club, are black and white, similar to the colour of the club mascot. The TCC has a long and proud tradition throughout all grades and this can be shown through the various premierships the club has won, including 13 in A1's. Over the years many different grades have been run within the club and we are proud to say in 2007, all grades will be represented from the A1's through to the A4's. During the season trainings are held every Tuesday and Thursday night, closely followed by a barbeque for all members cooked by club legend Pete Goers.

In recent years the club has been coached by Bohdan Wall and this has resulted in two senior premierships as well as a junior premiership won by the U16's. These victories have been particularly significant for the fact that many of the clubs younger members were involved and played important roles in getting their respective sides over the line. TCC holds the development of youth as a crucial part of the clubs progress in the future and trainings for our junior teams, U16's, U14's and U12's, are held throughout the week by current cricketers.

Also besides succeeding on the field, the "Tanunda boys" also run numerous events during the year, including sponsor and family days that incorporate the cricketers as well as the community. For instance, the hugely successful 6-a-side sponsor day, held at the Tanunda Oval, invites all club sponsors to enter a team to compete for the 6-a-side cup.

The club was originally formed in 1888, and in this our 120th year the club looks to progress with a strong mix of talented youngsters and experienced seniors to bring home four premierships for the Tanunda Cricket Club.
